STRUCTURAL ROOF REBUILD – OUGHTIBRIDGE PROPERTY

The problem:

This very large property was riddled with woodworm in the roof structure and the weight of the tiles were starting to distort the timbers and the roof was sagging in places. Naturally, if left, it would eventually fail and collapse!

The owner contacted Roofcare Yorkshire Limited because we had been recommended to him by a friend who was highly satisfied with work of a similar nature that we had done in the past. (Most of our work, 90%, comes from referrals)

The brief:

To conduct a full survey of the roof to determine the full extent of the damage and to formulate a full replacement plan to remove the whole roof, including the infested timber structure and completely rebuild it from scratch.

The Challenge:

The fairly exposed location of this property meant that speed was of the essence and that everything should be coordinated to progress the work quickly whilst keeping the property watertight from the elements. We utilised our own scaffolders, joiners and roofing experts in facilitating this challenge. All materials were ordered and delivered to site prior to commencement and we awaited a favourable weather window to allow us to get this work done with minimum disruption to the owners who remained in situe.

Progress:

The work commenced with our designated roofing team promptly removing the old roof cover and all the rotten timber and dispatching it to a licensed waste disposal depot using our own fleet of tipper trucks to minimise waste being left on site. Our structural craftsmen then started replacing the whole roof structure using new, pest treated timber. The proposal was to use a premium interlocking clay tile that would suit the character and location of this property. These were to be individually nailed and clipped in place to withstand the elements in the exposed location. The tiles chosen were Rivius, for their durability, aesthetic appearance and long life.

Outcome:

The whole job took three days using a large team of craftsmen who worked in tandem and who were meticulous in ensuring that this work did not overrun. The finished look is outstanding and is testament to the skill and dexterity of our workforce. The whole team were praised by the owners for the minimum disruption and waste management during the whole project. The scaffold was removed and the whole place given a thorough clean up by our employees before leaving.

Conclusion:

One very satisfied and highly delighted customer who will become an ambassador for our company should anyone ask for recommendations for roofing work. This is of great value to us here at Roofcare Yorkshire Ltd., and is something that the whole team get to share in.
